Novel
We have finished Number the Stars and students are working on their novel project. On Friday, students will take their final test on Number the Stars, turn in their chapter sheets and begin presenting their projects. Hopefully next week we will begin mythology and a grammar program. Students will continue to have vocabulary every Monday and tests on Fridays. Student should also keep up with their agendas.

Number the Stars
Next week we will finish Number the Stars! Students will complete all chapter sheets for a final grade. Also, Students will take a final test on the novel and they will have a final project on Number the Stars. After we finish the novel, we will begin mythology.

Antagonist: an opponent
Antiseptic: something used to kill germs; free of germs
Antisocial: unale to assoicate with other people; not sociable
Contradiction: A statement that is opposite to another statement
Counterbalance: A weight used to balance another weight; to balance or offset
Counterproductive: producing the opposite of what is desired or intented
Oblique: not straight; slanting; inclined, or sloping
Obnoxious: Very unpleasant and objectionable
Obscure: to make unclear; to conceal or make less obvious
Obstinate: unyeilding; unreasonably determined to have one's own way

Moving Away Vocabulary
Abandon- to leave or give up completely; to discontinue
Abdicate- give up power, authority or the throne
Abduct- to take away by force, kidnap
Abnormal- not typical, average or normal
Aboriginal- the original inhabitants of a country
Absolute- without restraint, not dependent on anything
Absolve- to free from blame, debt or responsibility
Abstain- to voluntarily refrain from
Abstract- not concrete or related to specific things; not easy to understand
Apogee- the point in the moon's or a satellite's orbit when it is farthest from the earth or the body it orbits

Vocabulary
Every Monday students are given a new vocabulary worksheet. Students need to study these words throughout the week. We will go over these words in class and students will be tested on these words Friday.
