I decided to go ahead and assign weekly essentials. They will have a vocabulary test on Friday. Students should make flash cards to help with studying at home.

Monday
Students received Weekly Essentials today. They will have 6 vocabulary words that they will need to study and create flash cards for. They will have a test Friday on the vocabulary. We are finishing "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" this week and we will then begin a novel. Please make sure that your child is reading every night at home. Some students are really behind and need to "catch-up." At this point, students should have read at least 6 novels.

Students need to finish final copy of their narrative tonight. They will need to include the peer edits/advice in their final copy.
Staple to your essay:
Staple Reverse Story Map (2), Bubble Map, Sensory Chart, Purple & Blue Peer Edits, Rough Draft and Final Copy (on top).
Tuesday
Some students did not turn in all work required for final paper. They will need to redo work that is missing.
Read Novel at home.
Wednesday and Thursday
Read Novels and work on any missing work

To help with writing students should read pages 146-155 in their literature book.

Students should continue to study for their vocabulary test. Also, students should be reading every night for at least 15 minutes.
Wednesday
Complete Story Map for Autobiographical Narrative. Students are choosing an event from their childhood that is memorable to write about. It needs to be about their life and their story. They may not write about an event that happened to a family member. If they can not remember the event or do not have enough information, then they need to choose a different event.
Thursday
Students need to finish "5 senses" chart if they did not finish in class.
