Last Week

We are down to the last days of school and 6th grade! I am excited about "Summer Break" and so are my students.  :) It has been a great year! Have a wonderful summer and I look forward to seeing  these students become 7th graders!

Progress Reports are coming home tomorrow! Please check your child's report for any missing grades or zeros! They can make these up!

Turn in all progress reports and make-up work by tomorrow!  Don't forget it is FUN FRIDAY!!!!

Students had a test last week on R.U.N.N.E.R.S but we postponed it until Wednesday.

Please make sure that you are turning in any missing work and practicing RUNNERS at home!

Progress Reports

4th Core students will receive their progress reports in the morning.  I was not able to get onto the Internet to print their progress reports today due to technical problems.  4th Core students also  have an extra day to study for the test on "The Case of the Speckled Band."

Students need to make sure they have turned in the work for "The Girl Who Discovered Dinosaurs" and  "The Case of the Speckled Band."

Students will be going on a field trip this week to the Botanical Garden in Brunswick County.  For homework, students will be required to finish work from the classes that they attend during the day.

This Week

We have started our new and last unit "Figure it Out." This is our mystery unit.  Students will be able to identify the elements of mystery, to describe appropriate vocabulary (Detective's Dictionary), analyze a mystery, formulate a theory and solve the mystery.  Students will also look at several scientific mysteries.

Finish One Pager


Students need to turn in any make up work by tomorrow! Please look at their new progress reports today!

Homework on Friday......Yes!!

Finish your one pagers if you did not finish in class!! Make it "pretty."

One pager:  Illustrate your favorite scene from your favorite story on courageous characters that we have learned about so far.  Provide a quote that goes along with your illustration.

My example was of Sojourner Truth's speech "Ain't I a Woman?"

I drew Sojourner on the stage with people in the audience and my quotes were.....

"The white men will be in a fix pretty soon."
"And ain't I a woman?"

Homework

Finish your bellringer!! You should go into detail about why you feel Sojourner changed her name and which one fits her best.


Make sure you have completed annotations for Sojourner Truth's speech "Ain't I a Woman."  Make sure you have completed the chart and the questions.
Thursday
Finish handouts from Wednesday.  Finish bellringers and be prepared for test!
