We will start reading our first classroom novel next week. Before we start the novel, we will research the Holocaust. It is important for students to know what is going on in the novel. We will spend a lot of time discussing this topic before we read the novel. Students are very interested in learning about the Holocaust and have lots of questions. I use a social studies book website for research purposes. Please look over this site so you will know what we are talking about in class. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. A lot of the students have informed me that they have been to the Holocaust Museum and they are very excited about sharing this experience. Tolerance is a constant theme in 6th grade literature and very important for students to learn. Number the Stars is a great novel and I hope they enjoy reading it.
