Class Discussion on Propaganda

We have started our Propaganda Unit. The students are learning what propaganda is and the different techniques that are used. They are very excited to view different types of media and I am hoping they are discussing this at home. They will be tested on this Wednesday. We are also designing our own advertisements using different propaganda techniques. I am looking forward to the presentations on Thursday.

Class Discussion

We have read another fiction story, "Stray," this week and have started another nonfiction story, "Water." They are watching the movie Miracle Worker which is based on a story about Helen Keller. Students were also able to get onto Study Island Thursday. They can log onto Study Island at home for extra practice. www.studyisland.com This is a great tool that helps students prepare for EOGs. We will focus on propaganda this coming week.
Have a great weekend!

Class Discussions

This week went by really fast! We read "Zlata's Diary" and "Drive-In Movies." Both were works of nonfiction and were discussed at length in class. Students should have new notes on NonFiction for their literature notebook. To end the week we began writing personal narratives. We spent two days in the computer lab typing these narratives and students have had plenty of time to finish. If for some reason they did not, they should work on it this weekend. If students need a narrative to compare their work, "Drive-In Movies" is a great narrrative by Gary Soto.
