Parts of Speech

We have started our Grammar Program. Students will be learning the parts of speech in class. They will most likely not have a lot of homework. They will have to memorize words and finish worksheets they didn't complete in class. Hopefully we will finish the program before Christmas break. This week we will start off with nouns and articles; then we will finish the week with pronouns and verbs.

Students can practice their skills at Grammar Gorillas. See links to the left of page.

Research/Writing Prompt

In case students forget their papers at school, I have added the documents below.

Essay Outline

Festival Writing Prompt

Please note that they are only writing about ONE festival now. We had to make changes to the assignments. Students already know this and made changes to their copies.

Homework

Monday
We wrote the first paragraph of our International Festival Day Essay in the computer lab. If for some reason students did not finish this paragraph, they were to finish it at home.

Tuesday
We wrote the second paragraph of our essay in class. Students need to make sure they are finished with the body paragraphs. They may also begin on the conclusion.

We will spend Wednesday and Thursday in the computer lab typing our essays.

Wednesday
Students need to write their conclusion paragraph tonight. They will finish their essays in class tomorrow.
Students need to get their progress reports signed.

Thursday
Students need to get their progress reports signed if they did not get it signed Wed. night.
Students need to finish the rough draft of their essay. They will spend the first half of class completing their essays. Then they will go onto to Study Island.
