Book Talks and Reader's Notebook

Book Talks and Reader's Notebooks are due Monday. Please make sure that students are prepared to present their Book Talk and that their Reader's Notebooks are ready to be checked. Their Reading Logs should be filled out and they should have 5 journal responses. Students should have completed at least 10 books so far.

Novels and Reader's Notebook

I will begin student conferences next week. It is important that they are using their Reader's Notebook and they are keeping up with their journal responses. They should be reading one novel a week. Students will begin book talks soon. Please encourage your child to read every night at home. This will help them reach their reading goal.

We have started our Short Stories Unit. Students are reading short stories and legends in class. We are discussing the elements of a short story and reading strategies. Students did not receive Weekly Essentials this week.

Projects Are Due Thursday!

Projects are due Thursday!! Please make sure students are working on these at home. Students were required to write down passwords and links in their agenda if they were using anything on the computer. Students were given the opportunity to create posters, cubes, PowerPoints, digital posters on Glogster, digital scrapbooks on ScrapBlog, videos on Animoto, or any other creative idea approved by the teacher. The project must have 6 topics about their lives. (Examples: Family, Friends, Favorites, Future Plans, Sports, Hobbies, etc) Students will be graded on information/topics, creativity and effort. They will begin presenting these on Thursday.
